Insurance and paymentAbout this panel
The Anemia Panel brings together tests that help assess whether anemia is present and its common causes. The complete blood count shows the hemoglobin level and the characteristics of red blood cells; serum iron, total iron-binding capacity and ferritin reflect the body's iron status and iron stores. Vitamin B12 is used to investigate B12 deficiency, another common cause of anemia.
These tests alone do not establish the cause of anemia; your doctor assesses the results together with your symptoms and examination findings. If you take iron or vitamin supplements, tell our nurse when your sample is collected.
