About Çekmeköy Imaging with Patient Transfer
When your doctor orders an MRI, CT or X-ray, the main question for a patient with limited mobility is often not the scan itself but how to get to the imaging center. Booking the appointment, arranging transport, getting the patient down from the apartment, staying by their side during registration and waiting, and then bringing them home safely can turn a scan of a few minutes into a job that takes up the whole day. Our imaging with patient transfer service takes this burden off your shoulders.
Curavita Evde Sağlık picks the patient up from home, takes them to the imaging center for the scan your doctor has ordered and brings them back home once the scan is finished. We book the appointment with the imaging center; when the report is ready, we send it to you. Which examination is needed and what the result means, however, are decided by the doctor who follows the patient.
Which scans do we take patients to?
Our service covers the main examinations performed at imaging centers:
- MRI: brain, spine, joint and soft tissue examinations
- X-ray: chest and bone X-rays
- Computed tomography (CT): cross-sectional examination of the requested area
- Ultrasound and Doppler: abdominal organs, soft tissues and blood vessels
- Mammography: breast imaging
Because these machines are large and fixed in place, the scan is done at the imaging center. Our job is to make sure the patient gets there and back safely and is never left alone during the process.
From leaving home to getting back: how does the day go?
Everything starts with a preliminary phone call. We talk about your doctor's order, the patient's mobility, which floor you live on and whether the building has an elevator. We then book an appointment with the imaging center on a day and at a time that suit you, and pass on the center's preparation instructions to you. When choosing the appointment time, we also take the patient's medication and meal times into account; for a scan that requires fasting, morning hours are often easier for the patient.
On the day of the appointment, we pick the patient up from home in a patient transfer vehicle. Throughout the journey and during registration, waiting and the scan at the center, our healthcare staff and companion staff stay with the patient. If you wish, a family member can also ride along with the patient in the vehicle; this is especially reassuring for patients who are anxious or have memory problems. Once the scan is complete, we bring the patient back home.
What should you keep in mind before the scan?
A smooth imaging appointment depends partly on preparation. Before the day of your appointment, go over the following points:
- Have your doctor's order ready; it should clearly state the area to be examined and the method.
- If you have them, bring previous MRI, CT or X-ray reports and images; they make it easier for the radiologist to compare.
- If you have a device such as a pacemaker, metal implant, prosthesis or insulin pump, be sure to mention it when the MRI appointment is booked.
- If you feel uncomfortable in enclosed spaces, say so in advance; the center can consider the arrangements needed for the scan.
- For contrast-enhanced scans, fasting or a blood test showing kidney function may be required; for this test, you can use our blood draw at home service.
- If there is any chance of pregnancy, be sure to say so before an X-ray or CT scan; on the day of a mammogram, do not apply deodorant or powder to your underarms.
- Have the patient's ID details ready, along with a list of the medications they take regularly and comfortable clothing without metal accessories.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions about preparation during the preliminary call; together with you, we clarify the documents and preparation steps the imaging center requires.
Who is it suitable for, and who is it not suitable for?
This service is designed for patients who have difficulty walking, cannot manage stairs or use a wheelchair; for people who need a follow-up scan after surgery but cannot drive yet; and for older people whose relatives cannot accompany them because of work or distance. Where long-term daily support is needed, our home care service can also be added to the same plan.
Patient transfer is not an ambulance service. This service is not suitable for patients who need continuous medical monitoring during the journey, whose condition is unstable or who are experiencing an emergency. In situations such as sudden shortness of breath, severe chest pain, a change in consciousness or severe pain after a fall, call 112 without waiting. Whether the patient is fit for transfer is always assessed during the preliminary call.
